Madhuvan — Pure Banarasi Silk Saree with Radha-Krishna Beadwork

There is a forest that exists at the edge of legend — Madhuvan, the "sweet forest" on the banks of the Yamuna, where cows grazed beside deer, peacocks called out to gathering monsoon clouds, and two figures met beneath a sky thick with stars. It is the setting of the oldest love story in Indian devotion, and weavers have returned to it for centuries whenever they wished to capture something larger than ornament — a whole world, held in silk.

This saree carries that world entirely by hand. Woven in deep magenta-pink pure Banarasi silk, the fabric holds the rich, lustrous depth this weaving tradition is known for. Across its surface unfolds an elaborate hand-embroidered tableau — Radha and Krishna rendered in fine beadwork, surrounded by a night sky of gold-thread stars and a beaded moon, with a procession of forest life worked entirely by hand: a garlanded cow, grazing deer, a peacock in full display, birds in flight, butterflies, and flowering branches, all scattered across the pink silk like a scene caught mid-story.

The border runs in rich gold zari brocade, dense with woven medallion motifs, framing the narrative field the way a temple wall frames its own carved stories — restraint at the edge, abundance at the centre.

This is a saree for the woman drawn to pieces that reward a second look — where every inch holds another figure, another motif, another small detail waiting to be noticed.

Pair with antique gold, kundan, or pearl jewellery. A contrasting blouse in deep red, green, or gold will let the beadwork narrative take centre stage.

Dry Clean Only — do not machine or hand wash
Iron on low heat, always on the reverse side, well away from the beadwork and embroidered figures
Store folded in muslin or cotton cloth, away from direct sunlight, to protect the beadwork and preserve the depth of the pink
Refold periodically and avoid folding directly along embroidered motifs to prevent bead damage
Handle the beaded areas gently to avoid snagging or thread pulls
Avoid direct contact with perfume, deodorant, or water — spray fragrance well before draping
Blouse piece: Dry wash only
