Product Details

Some blues do not ask for attention. They simply hold the room.
The Nīlaratna  the blue jewel is a Tanchui Brocade Katan Banarasi Silk Saree that speaks in the quiet, assured language of heritage. A deep, electric royal blue, lustrous as still water under moonlight, forms the ground for one of Banaras's most celebrated weaving traditions.

The pallu unfolds into a landscape of extraordinary intricacy a rich Nakshi brocade of silver and antique gold on a deep wine-and-ivory field, dense with flowering vines, peacock motifs, and the unmistakable geometry of centuries-old design. It is the kind of pallu that tells a story. The border traces the entire length of the saree in a wide silver-gold Nakshi weave, framing the blue silk body with the precision of a master miniaturist.

The Tanchui technique that rare Chinese-influenced weaving form that found its permanent home on the looms of Banaras gives the fabric its distinctive density and depth. The Katan silk base drapes with a weight that is both structured and yielding, holding every pleat with effortless grace. This is silk that moves with intention.

This is a saree for celebrations that deserve to be remembered. For moments when you want to be wholly, magnificently, yourself.

Styling note — Pair with a deep red or burnt orange embroidered blouse as shown, and let antique gold or polki jewellery do the rest. A crimson bindi completes the picture.
