Vanahilā — Green Chanderi Silk Saree with Red Border

There is a moment in a forest just after rain, when light falls through wet leaves and the whole canopy seems to ripple — never one green, but a dozen greens moving together. The old poets called this restless, living shimmer Vanahilā, the forest's own wave, a colour that cannot be pinned down because it was never meant to sit still.

The Vanahilā is a resplendent Green Chanderi Silk Saree with a rich Red border — woven in Chanderi, the town whose silk has been prized since the Mughal era for its sheer, glass-like texture and its rare ability to hold two colours in a single thread, creating a shimmering, iridescent effect no ordinary weave can replicate. As the fabric moves, the body shifts between deep teal and olive-green, alive with light in a way that feels almost liquid — the very ripple the name promises.

Scattered across this shifting green ground, gold zari booti motifs bloom like sunlight breaking through leaves — small, dense discs and leaf forms that catch the glow with every fold. The border and pallu break into a vivid red, where dense gold zari florals in the traditional Chanderi idiom take over completely — ornate, unbroken, and deeply festive, a striking contrast to the quiet shimmer of the body. The interplay between the fluid green and the structured red is what gives this saree its dual character: understated in motion, opulent in repose.

This is a saree for the woman whose energy shifts a room the way her saree shifts colour — never one note, always in motion, always commanding a second look.

Pair with antique gold, kundan, or oxidised jewellery. A red, maroon, or deep gold blouse will anchor this saree's shimmering personality beautifully.

Chanderi Silk is a fine, sheer textile prized for its shimmer, and it rewards gentle handling.

Dry Clean Only — do not machine or hand wash
Iron on minimum temperature — always on the reverse side, avoiding direct heat on the zari border
Store folded in muslin or cotton cloth — refold periodically to prevent permanent creasing and to preserve the fabric's natural shimmer
Avoid direct contact with perfume, deodorant, or sprays — apply these before draping
Keep away from prolonged sunlight and moisture — to preserve the depth of the green shimmer and the lustre of the gold zari
Handle with care — Chanderi is a lightweight, sheer weave that can snag on jewellery or rough surfaces
Blouse piece: Dry wash only
