Rajkiran — Pure Kanchipuram Silk Saree

There is a light that only kings and temples were once permitted to wear — the deep, burnished glow of the setting sun caught in gold. The old weavers of the south called such a hue Rajkiran, the royal ray, the colour reserved for those who walked through the world like sovereigns, unhurried, unmistakable, lit from within.

The Rajkiran is a radiant Burnt Orange Pure Kanchipuram Silk Saree — woven in the temple town of Kanchipuram, where silk-weaving has been practised as a sacred craft for over four centuries. True Kanchipuram silk is known for its distinctive three-shuttle weave, a technique so precise that the border is interlocked into the body strand by strand — woven together so securely that even if the saree wears thin with age, the border will never come apart from the body. It is silk built to be handed down, a fitting inheritance for a saree named for royalty.

Across the body, dense gold zari work catches the light in shifting geometric and floral rhythms, glowing like embers scattered across a field of fire. The contrast border in deep violet-purple runs the length of the saree like twilight closing in around a sunset — the classic Kanchipuram signature, where body and border speak in two different, deliberate voices. Beneath the drape, the pallu deepens into a rich, glowing red, as though the last ray of the Rajkiran has gathered itself at the very end of the fabric, waiting to be revealed with every fold and turn.

This is a saree for the woman who does not need to raise her voice to command a room — her presence simply arrives, the way royal light does, filling every corner it touches.

Pair with antique gold or temple jewellery. A deep purple, violet, or gold blouse will complete this saree's regal character.

Kanchipuram Silk is a heirloom-grade textile, woven to last generations, but it still deserves careful handling.

Dry Clean Only — do not machine or hand wash
Iron on minimum temperature — always on the reverse side, avoiding direct heat on the zari border
Store folded in muslin or cotton cloth — refold periodically along different lines to prevent permanent creasing and to protect the zari from cracking
Avoid direct contact with perfume, deodorant, or sprays — apply these before draping
Keep away from prolonged sunlight and moisture — to preserve the depth of the orange-red and the shine of the gold zari
Blouse piece: Dry wash only
